John coordinates Environment Maryland Research and Policy Center’s work on clean water, toxics pollution, and land preservation.
His recent work includes successful campaigns to restore the Chesapeake Bay and testified before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure regarding enforcement of the nation’s clean water laws.
Prior to his position at Environment Maryland Research & Policy Center, Mr. Rumpler practiced public interest and environmental law, representing community organizations in land use, zoning, and permitting matters. Mr. Rumpler began his environmental advocacy work as a student activist with MASSPIRG in 1985, and he served as director of OhioPIRG before earning his law degree from the Northeastern University School of Law.
